What this calculator does

This calculator uses only the assumptions you enter. It shows how a change in brand naming rate could flow into qualified enquiries, customers and commercial value, then compares that value with your planned investment. It is a planning model, not measured demand or a forecast.

Your assumptions

Build the model from your own numbers.

Leave guesswork outside the result. Every performance assumption starts blank and stays editable.

Inputs shared by all three scenarios

Your planning estimate for relevant category questions answered by AI each month. This is not measured search demand.

The percentage of eligible tracked AI answers that name your brand today. Use a measured rate when you have one.

Choose a period from 1 to 60 months.

Use expected gross profit or contribution value, not revenue. Enter 0 to leave break-even unavailable.

Include the costs you want the return calculation to cover. Enter 0 if you only want to model commercial value.

Scenario assumptions

For each scenario, enter the future naming rate, the share of additional named answers that become qualified enquiries, and the share of those enquiries that become customers.

The maths

Every step in the model is visible.

The calculator applies the same six formulas to your low, central and high assumptions.

Additional named answers

Monthly AI answers Γ— ((future naming rate minus current naming rate) Γ· 100)

Only the percentage-point increase above the current naming rate enters the model.

Qualified enquiries

Additional named answers Γ— (enquiry rate Γ· 100)

The enquiry rate is your assumption, not a benchmark supplied by Schmitdy.

Customers

Qualified enquiries Γ— (close rate Γ· 100) Γ— months

This keeps lead quality and sales performance visible as separate assumptions.

Contribution value

Customers Γ— average contribution value

Use expected gross profit or contribution value so the return basis remains economically meaningful.

ROI

(Contribution value minus investment) Γ· investment Γ— 100

ROI is unavailable when planned investment is zero.

Break-even customers

Investment Γ· average contribution value

Break-even is unavailable when contribution value is zero.

How to use the result

  1. Start with a measured naming rate if you have one. Label an estimate as an estimate if you do not.
  2. Use sales-accepted qualified enquiries and a customer value your finance team recognises.
  3. Save the central case for planning, then watch the low case when deciding how much risk to take.
  4. After work goes live, replace assumptions with tracked visibility, enquiry and sales evidence.

FAQ

Before you use the number

Is this a forecast of AI Search revenue?
No. The calculator turns your assumptions into a planning scenario. It does not measure category demand, predict AI answers or prove that visibility caused a sale.
What does brand naming rate mean?
Brand naming rate is the percentage of eligible tracked AI answers that name your brand. Keep the prompt set, engines, markets and sampling method consistent when comparing current and future rates.
Where should the conversion rates come from?
Use your own evidence where possible. Sales-accepted qualified enquiries, source-aware CRM records and a direct question about how the buyer heard about you are stronger than a generic industry multiplier.
Why are there no default performance assumptions?
A default query volume, conversion rate, close rate or customer value can make a speculative result look measured. This tool leaves those fields blank so the commercial case remains yours to defend.
Does Schmitdy keep my inputs?
No. The calculation runs in your browser and the inputs stay in this tab. The separate audit form explains what it collects if you choose to continue.
