Waste and Hauling Software Is the Most Monetised Category We Track: Nearly Four in Five ChatGPT Answers Carry an Ad

Ask an AI engine about waste, dumpster, septic or scrap hauling software, and in our tracking, four times out of five, someone has paid to be part of the answer. Across 1,375 answers we scored for 23 platforms in this category, CurbWaste, Housecall Pro, ServiceTitan, AMCS, Routeware, Jobber and 17 others, 1,070 carried at least one sponsored placement, 77.8% coverage. That is the highest of any category in our own daily multi-engine tracking, which includes ChatGPT ad tracking, and it is not close: the next-highest category we measure sits at 73.0%, and the lowest at 1.9%, a 40x spread across the categories we track. Sponsored placements currently appear on ChatGPT, and in waste and hauling software they are close to the default state of the answer, not the exception.

TL;DR

  • Highest coverage we measure: 77.8% of the 1,375 waste and hauling software answers we scored carried an ad, 1,070 ad-bearing answers in total.
  • One advertiser dominates: Jobber accounted for 9 of the 29 ad-bearing answers we sampled in depth, more than the next three advertisers combined.
  • Direct conquesting, named: Jobber runs "Jobber vs. ServiceTitan" and "The easier ServiceTitan alternative. Try free." creative, including on a prompt that asked for an alternative to a named competitor.
  • The long tail drifts off-vertical: later in the month, inventory pulled in warehouse robotics, B2B data and HR software advertisers with no obvious fit for a hauling business, evidence of an auction with more demand than well-matched supply.

How much of the waste hauling AI answer is actually sponsored?

Nearly four in five. Of the 1,375 answers we scored across 23 waste, dumpster, septic and scrap hauling platforms, including CurbWaste, ServiceTitan, ServiceCore, ReMatter, AMCS, Wastebits, Routeware, Roll-Off Amigo, Trash Flow and Jobber, 1,070 carried at least one sponsored placement. That is 77.8% coverage, the highest of the five categories in our tracking and well clear of the next category, entity resolution and identity data infrastructure, at 73.0%. The category with the least monetised answers we track, London hospitality, sits at 1.9%: a 40x spread from top to bottom, and waste and hauling software is the category at the top.

Which company owns this category's ad inventory?

We sampled 29 ad-bearing answers in this category in depth and found 18 distinct advertisers. One name shows up far more than any other.

The remaining 14 advertisers each appear once: Samsara, Answering Service Care, HoneyBook, Act!, Workato, GlossGenius, Capterra, Process Street, Brightpick, Intuit QuickBooks, ZoomInfo, Housecall Pro, Grid AI Labs and BigTime Software. Jobber alone accounts for more sampled appearances than the next three advertisers combined.

Is Jobber really running conquest ads inside ChatGPT?

Yes, and it names the rival directly. Two of Jobber's ad lines in our sample are built entirely around ServiceTitan, not around Jobber's own product on its own terms.

That last pair, "Jobber vs. ServiceTitan" and "The easier ServiceTitan alternative. Try free.", is textbook conquesting: naming a competitor directly in the ad creative and inviting the reader to switch. We saw this pattern hold inside the AI answer itself, not just in the ad copy. One prompt in our sample asked explicitly for an alternative to a named platform, and the answer served ads from both Jobber and Grid AI Labs. The buyer typed a competitor's name looking for an escape route, and got two more vendors bidding for the same decision.

What is everyone actually asking?

Our sample doesn't give us exact wording the way it does for other categories, but the prompt types are clear: category "best software for X" questions, day-to-day workflow how-tos, and competitor-alternative queries, the same three shapes that pull ads in every category we track, just at far higher volume here. The alternative-query evidence above, the prompt that named a specific platform and got served two competing ads, tells you which of those three shapes is worth the most to advertisers.

Why does the ad mix drift off-vertical late in the month?

Later in the tracking window, the inventory serving this category stopped looking like a hauling software auction and started looking like a general B2B software auction. Brightpick, a warehouse robotics company, ZoomInfo, a B2B data platform, and a cluster of adjacent business tools, HoneyBook, Act!, Workato, GlossGenius, BigTime Software, none built for a dumpster, septic or scrap hauling operation, all bought their way into the answer. Capterra, a software review site, and Process Street, a workflow tool, followed the same pattern.

None of this is a sign the category ran out of real advertisers. It reads the other way. A 77.8% coverage rate means there is more ad demand chasing this category's queries than there is well-matched supply of hauling-specific advertisers to fill it, so the auction pulls in whoever is willing to bid, on-vertical or not. A category running at 3.6% coverage, the level we recorded for UK trades and gas compliance software over the same window, simply does not have this problem. There is not enough advertiser demand there yet for the inventory to overflow into unrelated verticals. Waste and hauling software is further down a road that other categories in our tracking have barely started.

What does this look like next to the category with the least ad pressure?

Set side by side, the two extremes we track make the same point from opposite directions. Waste and hauling software runs at 77.8% coverage with 18 distinct advertisers competing hard enough that the auction spills into robotics and B2B data vendors. UK trades and gas compliance software sat at zero ads for two straight weeks before any sponsored placement appeared at all. Both are real software categories with real buyers typing real comparison queries. The difference is entirely in how much of that buying intent an advertiser has decided is worth paying for inside the answer, and in waste and hauling software, the answer is nearly all of it.

What should waste and hauling software brands do with this?

Nearly four in five answers already carry a paid placement in this category, so the organic answer alone is not the whole battle anymore. It is one input into an answer that is very likely to also show a competitor's ad. Jobber is the name to watch, not because it is the only advertiser, but because it is the only one running direct conquest creative against a named rival inside the answer itself. Any platform selling into hauling, dumpster, septic or scrap software should assume the buyer's AI answer already has a paid competitor in it, and plan the argument accordingly.

FAQ

How much of ChatGPT's waste and hauling software answers carry ads? 77.8%, the highest of the five categories in our tracking. Of 1,375 answers we scored across 23 waste, dumpster, septic and scrap hauling platforms, 1,070 carried at least one sponsored placement.

Which company dominates advertising in the waste hauling software category? Jobber. In our sample of 29 ad-bearing answers, Jobber appeared in 9, more than the next three advertisers, Talroo, ServiceTitan and Expert Market, combined.

Is Jobber running ads directly against ServiceTitan inside ChatGPT? Yes. Two of the Jobber ad lines we captured are built around the comparison directly: "Jobber vs. ServiceTitan" and "The easier ServiceTitan alternative. Try free." We also saw a prompt asking for an alternative to a named platform get served ads from both Jobber and Grid AI Labs.

What other kinds of advertisers show up in waste hauling AI search answers? A long tail with no obvious fit for the category: Brightpick (warehouse robotics), ZoomInfo (B2B data), Capterra (software reviews), Process Street (workflow tools) and several adjacent business and HR platforms. That drift is more visible later in the tracking month.

How was this waste hauling software AI ad data measured? Through our own daily multi-engine tracking, which includes ChatGPT ad tracking, across 23 tracked platforms in the category and 1,375 scored answers, with a deeper sample of 29 ad-bearing answers analysed for advertiser and creative detail.

Disclosure: Schmitdy is our own AI search service at AI Heroes. This comes from the same daily multi-engine tracking, which includes ChatGPT ad tracking, that we run across every category we cover, including our own. We publish category-level ad data like this because a 77.8% coverage rate changes what winning an AI answer means for a hauling software brand, and that shift is worth naming even when we are not the platform bidding.
